Uniforms are compulsory for all Leighland Christian School students. The reasons for school uniform are:
The wearing of full school uniform is therefore compulsory for all students.
Whenever the school uniform is worn-it is to be worn fully and correctly
If a student is unable to wear any item of the correct uniform on a particular day, an explanatory note should be sent by a parent. This situation should not normally persist for more than a day or two. Primary students should present this note to their Class teacher and Secondary students to the Head of Middle School or Head of Senior School before classes commence.
Uniform items, apart from shoes, stockings, beanies, black trackpants (High School only) and Year 11/12 boys trousers and shorts; must be purchased from the School's uniform shop to ensure consistency. These Year 11/12 items are to be purchased from Maveric Clothing, Reibey Street, Ulverstone.
Casual Clothes/Free Dress Days (unless different guidelines are advertised for the activity):
Students dressed inappropriately will be given items to wear from pre loved clothing. If the correct items cannot be found then parents will be contacted and students will be sent home.
Hair and Accessories:
(discretion lies with the Principal).
Formal Uniform:
Full winter uniform is our formal uniform to be worn to all official school organised events and for the annual school photos.
Hats:
Are compulsory during the daylight saving period only.
Jewellery:
Poses a safety risk in such areas as Technology, PE, Science, Art etc.
Labelling:
All clothing should be labelled (including shoes). Please use a name rather than initials & re-name clothes which have been handed on.
Lost Property:
The school takes no responsibility for lost clothing. At the end of each term, all lost property will be donated to the secondhand shop or an appropriate charity.
Maintenance
All uniform items are to be well maintained and in good order. Torn, faded or graffittied items are to be replaced. Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.
Makeup:
No make-up and only clear nail polish allowed.
Pre-Loved Clothing:
Please help others - please do not throw out uniform items which are still fit to be worn - send them to the second hand uniform shop for resale.
Skirts and Dresses:
Please note the required length for dresses/skirts:
Primary: No shorter than 7cm from the floor when in a kneeling position.
High School/Senior: No shorter than 10cm from the floor when in a kneeling position.
Shoes:
Both sports shoes and school shoes must offer suitable support and protection. School shoes must be polishable and not have a heel higher than 4cm. Sports shoes cannot be canvas style and laces must be tied firmly. Ballet style, converse, skate and fashion shoes are not acceptable.
Socks:
Girls are to wear white foldover cotton anklets. Boys are to wear plain white anklet sports socks. Knee high, sockettes and name brand sport socks are not permitted.
Soft Shell Jackets:
A non compulsory part of the school uniform. However, they are the only jacket that can be worn by High school students.
Swimming:
All bathers to be modest and decent.
Trousers/Shorts Boys:
Cargo style are not permitted.
UNIFORM KINDER TO YEAR 4
Please note that Kinder children may wear either the full sports uniform (recommended) for the 3 day program or sports uniform on sports day and the summer/winter uniform for the other two days.
Prep to Year 4 children should wear their sports uniform on the days they have sport and the summer/winter uniform for the other days.
